Malaysians can now choose the COVID-19 saliva-based testing from MYEG in collaboration with BP Healthcare. This safe, government-approved, non-invasive test method is fast, affordable and convenient as sample collection can be done from the safety and comforts of one’s own home or workplace. Samples will be processed at BP Healthcare’s network of laboratories, with test results available as early as the next working day on the MyQR by MYEG mobile application. This service will be offered at RM150 per test, excluding delivery charges which will vary depending on location. To register, customers can click here to make a booking, and select RT-PCR Saliva.

MYEG has launched SafeQ, an online portal offering an array of hotel accommodation and amenity options available to low risk COVID-19 patients who wish to undergo mandatory quarantine requirements at a chosen hotel, ranging from 3-star to 5-star. This service approved by the Government provides COVID-19 patients with an option to be quarantined at a participating hotel, instead of undergoing quarantine at home or at a government facility such as MAEPS.

The accommodation package typically includes 3 meals a day, personal bathroom & free bathroom amenities, free in-room WIFI, cable/satellite TV channel, complimentary bottled water and a dedicated concierge & medical team on standby. MYEG would like to inform our customers that our online services will operate during the Movement Control Order period. However, our Customer Service Counters and walk-in Self-Collection service will be suspended until the Movement Control Order is lifted.

Customers can continue to transact with the Government for the renewal of foreign worker insurance and permit, renewal of motor vehicle insurance and road tax, summons payment and various other services available on www.myeg.com.my without leaving the confines of their premises.

Rest assured that we have put in place various measures to ensure the safety of our employees and this includes provisioning of safety equipment to our employees, allowing our back office employees to work from home, regular sanitisation of all our offices as well as putting travel restrictions on our employees.

At the same time, we are closely monitoring the situation while continuing to adhere to all policies, guidelines and recommendations from the Malaysian Government to tackle the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) has created a new post called “Restaurant Crew” under the restaurant subsector approved on 29th July. For approval prior to 29th July 2019, the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has agreed the employers to update their worker position from Cook to Restaurant Crew accordance with the company current requirements at the Immigration Office and Immigration State Branches beginning 1st October 2019 until 31st December 2020.

All foreign workers/maids will need to undergo compulsory FOMEMA medical examination and additional check-up effective 1st January 2018.
FOMEMA is now required on the 5th, 7th and 9th year of renewal until the foreign worker returns home. Similarly for maids, FOMEMA is required on alternate years starting from the 5th year onwards as long as they remain employed in Malaysia.

Security Notice: PHISHING AND MALWARE

Phishing (pronounced "fishing") is an electronic scam that attempts to obtain confidential personal or financial information from its target. It takes the form of a fake e-mail, which appears to be from a financial institution or service provider. The message usually includes the company name, logo and a link to a website which instructs you to update your information by providing your account details or personal information with a dire warning if action isn't taken. A phisher can then use your personal information to commit fraud.

In order to avoid becoming a victim of a phishing scam, you need to know what to look for.

Sample: Phising Email

1. In a typical phishing case, you will receive an e-mail that appears to come from a reputable company such as your financial institution, government agency, or a credit card company.
2. While some e-mails are easily identified as fraudulent, others may appear to come from a legitimate address and trusted online source. Do not rely on the name or e-mail address in the "from" field, as this is easily forged.
3. The message will describe an urgent reason you must "verify" or "re-submit" personal or confidential information by clicking on a link embedded in the message.
4. Once inside the fraudulent website, you may be asked to provide IC/Passport numbers, account numbers, passwords, or other information used to verify your identity such as mother's maiden name or place of birth.
5. Fraudulent e-mail may also include links and/or attachments that contain computer viruses and/or keystroke loggers and should not be clicked on or opened.
6. Other typical phishing scams include fake job offers, surveys, bogus prize awards, gift certificate offers, or money laundering schemes.

Malware generally refers to any program that intentionally harms your computer and is typically installed without your consent. Malware can get into your computer by doing something as innocuous as clicking on an ad, going to a website or even unknowingly downloading a document. The malware "industry" has blossomed so much that some malware actually poses as anti-malware software.

Your best defense is to keep your browser, operating system, and applications up to date, and to run updated anti-malware software.
